Music Nourishment for the Brain

Did you know that it has now been proven that students who participate in arts learning experiences – such as music education – improve their achievement in other realms of learning and life?!

Not only that – but children who have been exposed to early childhood music education classes have tested higher on the SAT than children who have had a less musically enriched upbringing!

Statistics like this continuously reinforce how important music education is in the upbringing of each and every child. I’ve seen the difference music makes in a life of a child and their family and knew the benefits for years – even before Music Rhapsody was a glimmer in my eye…but it’s a wonderful feeling to know that what I have always been so passionate about is recognized as such an important part of a well-rounded education.

It’s also why I’m eager to invite new families to try us out for free. Call Music Rhapsody and schedule your little one to try out one of our amazing music class. I promise you’ll have the best time and learn a lot too!

Last night I overheard a mom talking to one of my fantastic staff members…she had come back to re-register her little boy for one of our toddler classes and said “Our schedule is so hectic and I wasn’t sure if we should continue trying to squeeze an extra activity in our already hectic schedule but my toddler missed this so much…I had to come back to your classes!”

I love hearing things like that! It is a struggle to juggle work and kids! I’ve been there! This is one of the reasons we offer so many class times at Music Rhapsody. We know that between your schedule and your child’s schedule (lunch, nap-time and bedtime) those small spaces of available time are few and far between! (and are almost as valuable as gold these days!) So when you bring your little one to participate in a class we don’t take the fact that you are here for granted!

Our classes are structured so that you and your little one get the best possible interactive music enrichment experience available. We don’t take the time you have chosen to spend here lightly!

Coming to our classes means you are proactively taking your child’s future in your hands by participating in something which will enrich their lives forever! And because music has the ability to evoke a myriad of positive emotions and responses, these classes are an amazing way to interact with your little one!

I wanted to thank all of you parents who have chosen to come to Music Rhapsody with your children. You are creating better and more rounded human beings and allowing us to play a role in their development…and this is just another reason why we are so lucky and grateful that after almost thirty years, Music Rhapsody is still here, making it possible to positively enrich the lives of children and parents!

It’s Friday! Pop Quiz!

Quick quiz – can you fill in the blanks? I bet you can! (the answers are at the bottom of this post)

1.      Twinkle, twinkle little ________________
2.      I’m a Little ____________________
3.      Mary Had a Little _______________
4.      Baa-baa _______________
5.      Old MacDonald Had a _________________

How did you do? I’m willing to bet you did pretty well…I’d even venture far enough to say that you knew every single one of the answers!

Now let me ask you this: did you learn these songs when you were an adult? I doubt it! You learned these songs as a child and although you might feel a little silly saying that you knew what each one of those songs were – it has a much deeper meaning…knowing those songs proves how important and fundamentally necessary music is!
Now would those questions be on a college exam? It’s pretty doubtful however, I bet you can’t actually remember when you learned each one of those songs and yet you KNOW how to fill in those blanks…because they are basic childhood songs you are exposed to at an early age…you were also exposed to other fundamentally important tools such as LANGUAGE (Which is how you are able to read this post…!).

The point I’m trying to get across to you today is that music, like language, is a basic learning necessity which should to be incorporated into every child’s learning experience. It’s a crucial step towards developing many important skills…and whether you actually believe that statement or not, what you CAN believe is that Music Rhapsody has been teaching children about music for nearly thirty years…you can come in and register your child for music classes at Music Rhapsody right now and begin developing your child’s love for music while also helping to contribute towards the development of so many other skills AND you can do so with the peace of mind that with almost three decades of being in business, we truly know how to help incorporate music into your child’s life in a unique and positive way – because we do it every day with passion…and there aren’t very many educational establishments who can say that!

(Answers: 1. Star, 2. Teapot, 3. Lamb, 4. Black sheep, 5. Farm)

The Power of Music

Can you think of a movie you’ve seen recently that didn’t have a musical soundtrack?  I can’t. Why do you think that is? It’s because music is a very powerful thing…

A single note played on a violin can make a movie seem more exciting or even sad. It can bring you up when you’re down. Music gets you feeling and moving – tapping your toes or wiggling your hips. Music can even prompt a memory long forgotten…

When it comes to our senses, there aren’t many things which affect us like music does!

Now here’s the part you really need to digest: music is also one of the things which gets overlooked and taken for granted when it comes to encouraging our children to learn more, become more – even DO more!

Music is an integral part of paving the road towards your child’s educational success…and the best part about what we do at Music Rhapsody is that there is no guess work! We really know what we are doing (because we’ve been doing it for nearly thirty years!)  Call us today and we will find a class that is perfect for your child – we offer classes for all ages – from babies to teenagers and you won’t find yourself packed into a chaotic room with 20 children – we offer several classes per age group with the specific purpose of making sure that your little one gets the most out of the Music Rhapsody experience.
